§ 2-551. Method of destruction.

  • A city record may be destroyed by burning, shredding, pulping, or burial in a landfill or by sale or donation for recycling purposes except as provided in this section.

    (1)

    Records to which public access is restricted under V.T.C.A., Government Code § 552.001 et seq. or other state law may be destroyed only by burning, pulping, or shredding.

    (2)

    Should the city sell or donate records for recycling purposes, a procedure shall be established ensuring that the records are rendered unrecognizable as city records by the recycler.

    (3)

    The director and librarian may approve other methods of destruction that render the records unrecognizable as city records.
